I watched Imagemate, Hidden Word, and Containers. Hidden Words and Containers were my faves. I could use both in many letter of the day activities
Containers is what I'll try first ~ I could use this for kids names that start with certain letters, for kids to sort. They can sort letters that have tall sticks and letters that don't. Can totally use this.

Experiment with BYOD for lesson
I did not have my kids officially have a byod yet, but did give a student my phone to take video of our class letter of the day book. The kid LOVED being in charge, and I posted it to our daily blog. I am thinking of adding this to our next round of special student of the day, so each kid will get a turn. Still feel like I need a better plan of where byod is going before I have it in my room.
BYOD video
I like the idea, but beyond using the camera feature to take pics, I'm not sure of where to go with it. I would love to hear how other k teachers are using it.

Daily Message Using Epson Tools
I watched Jean use her Epson Tools to do daily message with her class. I plan to use this as well. Kids LOVED to have her print it out and take it home. I do need another lesson with her to be able to do this.

Writing Relaunched: Teaching with Digital Tools
I loved the part of this article when the teacher said, “They found out last year that the more compelling their voice was and if they were funny and insightful, the more readers and comments they got. That drives them.”
That couldn't be more true. I see that in the use of my class blog. When they see the comments that their own reading of their writing gets, they glow, and are super motived to write more. When they get comments about sharing what they can read, they want to read more. What other digital tools can I be using to teach writing? I'm game to try!!!

An Idea Whose Time Has Come
I couldn't agree more with this author and feel that Lindbergh is implementing BYOD. My own daughter is in first grade, and just participated in her first, and was thrilled to bring in her DSI to use to learn. I would LOVE for us to use this class time to explore the best way to handle it. I have already talked with our first grade teachers about how they manage these days, what the expectations are, etc., but I would like to create the skeleton for this here at Elite 3. I can always ask on my own, but it would be great to be able to use the gift of time that we get here. That is, after we hopefully learn all about the "how to" of using our ipads.

Being a Reflective Practitioner
Just read the blog post about being a reflective practitioner. I currently use a blog with my students/parents daily. I believe in the classroom blog for a multitude of reasons. I have not gotten into following other teacher blogs. Looks like a promising way to spark creativity and get ideas. Who to follow? Would love time to look...

21st Century Teacher
I think that to be a 21st century teacher, you have to love to learn. The day of the teacher doing the same thing, using the same tools, year after year is over. It is necessary for the teacher to love to learn, and be willing to get out of his/her comfort zone to try new things. My teaching tools have completely changed in the last five years, and I'm sure will continue to change. Everything in a kindergarten classroom has always been visually stimulating, but now it's on steroids. It's bigger and it's better. Teachers also need to use assessment tools that allow him/her to know individual students, so that individual needs can be met. There should be something meaningful and engaging to everyone in lessons. Just like always, you need to love kids, too!
